empowering

Empowering our players allows them to play with passion and want to get better every day.

Today’s guest is a widely sought-after speaker for corporations, schools, universities, organizations and teams all over the country. Her Master’s Degree is in Sports and Performance Psychology and she uses it with performers of all ages, from all walks of life, from youth softball to professional softball to corporate. Her goals are empowering those she works with, instilling confidence and building deeper connections and awareness.

She has appeared on the TEDx stage as a speaker three different times and has been interviewed on six different occasions by Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate. She runs a group coaching program called the Soul Tribe Evolution Project, has a radio show called The Possibility Project, and writes monthly columns for a variety of publications. She published her first book, called “These Five Words Are Mine.”

Please welcome the #1 Motivational Speaker in the Philadelphia, PA & Washington, DC Regions, 2009 Female Business Leader of the Year and president of Jlynne Consulting, Jen Croneberger!

Today we discuss…

  • How she empowered herself to pursue this career path
  • Keys to empowering players to manage perfectionism and shift away from black and white thinking
  • Our obligation to empower others by sharing our gifts with others
  • Empowering coaches to utilize the “get 1% better” philosophy, bring these concepts onto the field and protect their players’ fragile confidence

COACHING CHALLENGE | Use the Praise, Critique, Praise method

Most coaches have heard of the sandwich method. Give a positive, then a negative, then a positive. But Jen teaches us a more productive version of that method. Bonus: it also teaches players how to communicate with each other. 🙂 Once they figure that out, you’ll have even more voices helping drive the team forward!

To make it more productive, Jen suggests you do three things. First, you have to give your players a voice in the feedback first. What’s more empowering than that?! Second, help keep the focus on controllable, changeable critiques. Third, always begin and end with what you’re doing well. This makes sure the positive things stick in their minds. If you do these three things consistently, you will see your team grow at least 1% every day.

If you want more resources and support for empowering your athletes to truly LOVE the game, we’d love for you to consider our Dream Team programs! They are designed specifically for coaches to help you get the most out of your players using a system they’ll love and grow leaps and bounds from.
