As seen (and heard!) on
Training a team player has taken a back seat to showcasing the individual in today’s recruiting culture. Fortunately, the new recruiting age change and travel ball coaches like our Sweet-Spotters are working to shift that culture back to a team focus.
Because when it comes down to it, coaches like us want to develop good people. And those people will be much more successful in their life, career and family if we’re focused on training a team player above all else.
Today we have TWO amazing guests to share their experience in training athletes how to work hard for the team and program.
They’re the winningest staff in all of softball and have been named regional coaching staff of the year 15 times. They’ve won 21 Big 10 Conference titles and have taken 12 trips all the way to the Women’s College World Series. To top it off, they were the first team east of the Mississippi to be named National Champion.
Without further ado, please welcome Michigan’s Coach Hutch and Coach Bonnie Tholl.
(For the latest on Michigan Softball, Coach Hutch and Coach Tholl, give them all a follow on Twitter!)

Do you wish there was a system for training a team player in a me-first culture?

That’s why we do what we do! Because who wouldn’t want to be a part of a team that feels like family? We’ve created the Dream Team Blueprint and other resources to help coaches work on mental skills and team building at the same time. If you’d like to learn more using about our system and resources in the Softball Mental Training Toolkit and/or bring us in to consult with your team, simply head to!
That’s all for this week! Hope so see you back here soon!

Phenomenal information

As a new coach that believes in the mental game being so important, the podcasts and group discussions online have been amazing. Thank you ladies so much! Just knowing that the day to day struggles and doubts are felt by so many others has been remarkably reassuring. Thank you for what you are giving to others in the sport.

5 Star Podcasts!

I love listening to your podcasts while out on a run or on my way to work. They are focused and give me one or two pieces of inspiration to focus on with my team for the week. I have implemented a few key words (like "supportive") and have gotten huge returns from it! Keep up the great work!!

Mental Toughness

As a softball coach and a teacher, I appreciate all of the strategies and advice that Melanie shares each week! She is so inspiring, knowledgeable about the mental game, and willing to help in any way! One tip that really resonates with me is learning how to understand which things in life you are able to control, and what is out of your control. I teach these skills on the field and in the classroom! Thank you for all of the support and encouragement!

🌟 ⭐️ 🌟 ⭐️ 🌟

I love being part of the Mental Sweet Spot because it helps me think outside of the box to help our team grow mentally. I’ve noticed with the techniques and advice from Melanie and others in her Facebook Group I’ve help my team not only grow mentally but athletically as well. Mental toughness will help your team on the field as well and Melanie’s advice has proven that time and time again.
